A New Phase Of The Women's Movement
There is no going back. The women's movement was necessary. But the liberation that began with the women's movement isn't finished. The equality we fought for isn't livable, isn't workable, isn't comfortable in the terms that structured our battle. HTMLBREAKSaying no to the feminine mystique and organizing to confront sex discrimination was only the first stage. We have somehow to trancend the polarities of the first stage, and even the rage of our own 'no' to get on to the second stage: the restructuring of our institutions on a basis of real equality for women and men, so we can live a new 'yes' to life and love, and can *choose* to have children.
Which of the following best explains why the women’s movement evolved into a new phase during the late twentieth century?
A
An unsuccessful attempt to legislate equal pay across genders.
B
The emergence of political groups directly opposing feminist goals.
C
The recognition of unaddressed challenges despite earlier successes.
D
The inability to secure a constitutional amendment for gender equality.
