Determining Reaction Order From Initial Rates
In an initial rate study, doubling the concentration of reactant X in four separate experiments leads to different rate multiplications: Experiment 1 shows a 2‐fold increase, Experiment 2 a 4‐fold increase, Experiment 3 an 8‐fold increase, and Experiment 4 no increase (1‐fold). Rank the experiments by the inferred reaction order with respect to X from lowest to highest order.
